Caring For Your April Fool Scones

Scones are kind of magic. Almost all of them freeze very well, and they reheat better than any other thing.

SAVORY SCONES
The best thing to do with a batch of scones—especially savory ones—is to freeze them immediately. Reheating them at 250º in a regular oven for 20 minutes will get you results that are typically every bit as good as the moment they were born.

FRUIT, NUT, and CHIP SCONES
As with our savory friends, the best thing to do with any batch of scones is to freeze them immediately. Reheat in a regular oven at 250º for 20 minutes.

If you don’t want to freeze your fruit, nut, and chocolate chip scones right away, you can place them in a a sealed bag or container and store them unchilled (but in a cool, dry place) for a few days. Reheating them at 250º for 10 minutes will work best in this case.

Note: It’s never a bad idea to refrigerate them if you’re not freezing. Reheat at 250º for 15 minutes.
